Obi Cubana declares new chapter of faith, pledges weekly church attendance

Popular Nigerian businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has publicly declared his commitment to Christianity, marking a new chapter in his personal life.

The announcement was made on January 13, 2026, through a video shared on his Instagram page, where he appeared alongside renowned clergyman Pastor Jerry Eze. In the clip, the NSPPD founder confirmed that he personally led Cubana to Christ, describing the moment as a major spiritual turning point.

Pastor Eze stressed the importance of discipleship in sustaining the businessman’s faith, revealing that spiritual mentors have already been assigned to guide him. “Cubana needs discipleship, and I have already assigned disciples to him. He will grow in the knowledge of God,” the pastor stated.

Speaking in the video, Obi Cubana expressed his resolve to live out his faith openly and consistently. He pledged to attend church every Sunday and use his influence to encourage young people to embrace Christianity.

“This is 2026, I am a new creature. I have given my life to Christ, and I will be consistent in worship,” he said, adding that his declaration was not for show but meant to inspire others. He also noted that he intends to spread the message of faith without entertaining negativity.

The development comes amid a growing trend of Nigerian celebrities publicly turning to spirituality. With Cubana’s massive following and business influence, his involvement is expected to further expand the reach of Pastor Jerry Eze’s ministry.

Obi Cubana is the founder of the Cubana Group, a hospitality empire with nightclubs, lounges and hotels across Nigeria and beyond. He gained nationwide attention in 2021 following the extravagant burial ceremony of his mother, which showcased his wealth and generosity.

Now, the entrepreneur says he is embracing a new season of life defined by faith, service and positive impact.
