The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has honored Afrobeats singer Divine Okubor widely known as Rema with a royal plaque.
The royal plaque was presented to Rema on Thursday during his visit to Benin's royal palace ahead of his homecoming concert scheduled for Friday, August 30 at the Ogbe Stadium in Benin City.
During his visit, Rema sang his mega-hit track "Calm Down" to the Oba, chiefs and the audience. His little performance was received with so much excitement, which prompted the Oba, to order his daughters to join the singer while he was singing.
Also, the "Calm down" had on Wednesday joined the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Edo Arena. The governor announced that the 6,000-capacity venue would be named "Rema Dome" in honor of the singer.
Rema's homecoming concert at Ogbe Stadium is set for tonight.
