Nollywood stars Rachael Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi have been appointed as political aides by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah as part of a major restructuring of the state's administrative team.

The official announcement was made on Monday, September 21, 2026, by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, detailing a total of 101 new appointments across various portfolios, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants.

Rachael Okonkwo, best known for her iconic title role in the hit movie series Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, has been appointed as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Film and Creative Industry Development.

The role positions her at the intersection of public policy and entertainment, tasked with growing the local creative economy and film infrastructure across Enugu State.

Meanwhile, veteran actress and ordained evangelist Eucharia Anunobi was named Special Assistant (SA) on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu-North Senatorial Zone. Anunobi, who rose to fame in the 1990s and has featured in over 90 feature films, will focus her portfolio on grassroots engagement and civil mobilization among women in the region.

The appointment of both screen stars comes alongside 99 other political appointees assigned to various sectors, including SME development, conflict resolution, inter-party relations, and environmental protection.
