The Nigerian Nollywood industry players came together at the Ojez Entertainment Centre in Surulere, Lagos to pay their respects to the three fallen industry legends: John Ikechukwu Okafor also known as Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, and Zulu Adigwe.

At the night of tributes, organised by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), many entertainers were present.

Those in attendance included Hon. Desmond Elliot, Victor Osuagwu, Dadi Monso, Nora Igbokwe, Emeka Duru, Songito, Shadows, MC Senator, Ifeanyi Ezekwe, Sunny Mcdon, Mojisola Oyetayo, Francis Onwochei, and Julius Agwu, among many others.

The night of tributes began with a procession from Marsha roundabout to the stadium which ended with a candlelight procession.

The late John Okafor was reported to be in attendance. The event started with praise and worship led by Arinze Okonkwo while Apostle Chinedu Nnalue, who gave the exhortation also led a prayer for the families of the departed legends.

Speaking on the night, the AGN president, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas advised those present to live an impactful life as the departed trio did.

Represented by the Vice President, South West, Bukola Fagbuyi, Rollas said: “The late John Okafor, Amaechi Muonagor and Zulu Adigwe lived lives that exemplified brilliance; lives that inspired emulation, lives that burned so that others’ paths were lit and made an impact on society through their profession. Today we are here to honour them, not only by profoundly feeling and expressing our loss, but also to remember their amazing personalities as they all played a unique and special role in all our lives and the acting profession. They generously gave their knowledge, expertise and skills to make Nollywood what it is today. Our hearts and prayers are with their families at this most difficult time. They indeed left their footprints on the sands of time and posterity will definitely remember them.”

Secretary of the Board of Trustees of AGN, Sunny Mcdon narrated how his relationship with Muonagor, who worked with the Nigerian News Agency, began in the industry and how Mr. Ibu approached him to ask how to join the industry.
