Seasoned actor, Charles Inojie, has expressed reservation over the purported influx of women of little or no substance in the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood.

Inojie voiced his displeasure with upcoming actresses who use the industry as a platform for advertising their ‘other’ enterprises during an interview on the ‘Honest Bunch Podcast’.

He characterised them as opportunists with no genuine passion for Nollywood who merely wished to take advantage of the business for their own selfish purposes.

Asserting that they are on a mission to attract movie producers and directors in order to land jobs, Inojie likened them to the biblical character Jezebel’s daughters.

The “Johnson” actor said: “Those set of people who pay movie producers to star in a movie, are only chasing after the title. They just want to hold onto it as a side hustle, as many of them are into businesses. They just need a tag for Nollywood.

“It came into a time in the industry when there was an influx, it was as if the Devil opened the gate for angels to come in. And these people aren’t looking to build a career, they just want something to hold and say they are actresses to further their business.

“There are many daughters of Jezebel in Nollywood. They can do anything just to be in front of the camera. And when you meet a character that isn’t properly formed as a producer or director, you will fall. There are daughters of Jezebel looking for movie producers and directors to fall.”
