Popular actor and politician, Femi Branch, is currently embroiled in some controversies, including an alleged assault on a film set; and an unpaid debt of over 10 years.
The actor was initially accused of assaulting an Assistant Director while on set, though he was said to have apologised to both the AD and other crew members.
Apparently unsatisfied by his apology, the film crew community released a statement that went viral.
The statement read, “On 18 June 2025, during a production shoot, an actor, Femi Branch, physically assaulted the first Assistant Director on set.
“He slapped the first AD in the presence of witnesses, violating not only professional boundaries but basic human decency.
“Under pressure, an assurance of apology was given. Filming resumed under the 1st AD’s instruction, and the actor later apologised to the 1st AD. and the entire crew.
“We commend the entire production crew for standing firmly against violence and upholding respect and integrity on set.”
In a video that trended on social media, an angry Femi was blocked from leaving the scene by some crew members. The actor could then be heard asking the director if he brought him on set to embarrass him.
Meanwhile, as this was going on, an X user, Pastor Timilehin, accused Branch of owing his father the sum of N9.7m.
In his post, Timilehin alleged that Branch borrowed the sum of N1m from his father, Tolulope Komolafe, in 2011, with an interest of N50,000 per month, which he claimed had now accumulated to N9.5m.
He wrote, “Dear @femibranch you borrowed the sum of 1 million Naira from Mr Akin Tolulope Komolafe (My Dad), since 2011 with interest of 50,000 per month.
“You have refused to pay to date. The accumulated sum is now 9.7 million. My dad helped you out when you needed it most. Now that everything has worked out for you, you have refused to pay him his money, despite all the efforts he has made to recover it.
“I just want to let you know one thing, you must pay that loan. If my dad fails to get it from you, I will get it from you or your children.”
He also shared a letter allegedly written by Femi and requesting for the loan in December 2011, to fund his film, Onile.
However, when Sunday Scoop reached out to Branch, he refused to comment, saying, “Please, I do not want to comment. I would appreciate it if you could respect that.”
