Popular Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, has declared that he will insist on carrying out a DNA test before formally acknowledging any child as his own.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the In My Opinion podcast, the Che Che hitmaker revealed that he has already laid down his non-negotiable marital conditions to his girlfriend, which include signing a prenuptial agreement and verifying paternity for future children.
While admitting that his partner expressed strong dissatisfaction with the terms, Mayorkun maintained that he remains firm on his stance.
"I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset," Mayorkun stated.
The self-styled "Mayor of Lagos" further admitted to considering discreet paternity testing to avoid unnecessary conflict unless a discrepancy is discovered.
"I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it," he added.
Mayorkun's comments align with a growing discourse across Nigeria concerning premarital agreements and compulsory DNA testing, fueled by rising public concern and high-profile legal battles involving paternity fraud.
