Nigerians reacts to Wizkid's old tweet about crushing on a 14-year-old girl

Grammy Award-winning singer Ayo Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, is currently facing backlash from social media users after they dug up some of his old posts from X.

The resurfaced tweets from 2010, written when Wizkid was around 19 years old, show him mentioning an encounter with a 14-year-old girl he found attractive.

The discovery triggered swift outrage across social media, prompting Wizkid to delete the tweet quickly.

However, the deletion intensified the online reactions, with users launching a deeper search into his old posts.

Their digging uncovered another controversial moment, this time involving Banky W, Wizkid's former label boss at EME.

In a 2011 tweet, Banky W made a joke referencing the situation and comparing it to R.Kelly's well-known scandals.

What seemed like a light-hearted comment at the time has now reignited debate about the Nigerian music industry and its past insensitivity towards issues involving minors.

The renewed interest in Wizkid’s old posts comes just days after Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi faced heavy public criticism over his own recent social media activity.
