Nigerians react to viral video of a middle-aged 'corporate' fruit seller in Benin

A significant number of Nigerian social media users have reacted to the viral video of a middle-aged male trader in Benin who is engaged in the buying and selling of fruits.

In the BBC video that has since caught the attention of many, the man, identified as Abraham Chukwu or "The fruit man" sells a variety of fruits including apples, oranges, mangoes, and others in a locally manufactured trolly.

Reacting, comedian and MC, Okey Bakassi who posted the video on his Instagram page wrote: "Please send his contact if you have it. There's dignity in labor."

Another user wrote: "I need his certified contact and account number. We want to show him love from the diaspora."

Luckywilliams59, a user who claims to know Mr. Chukwu confirmed that he has been doing this business for sometime now: "Dis man Don dey do dis business for for Benin for more than 14 years a very good man."

On Facebook, a user wrote:"I dey see am around GRA, Benin City, please interview am I for like am may he tell the whole world why kind of business and the styles."

Mr. Chukwu who was confident about the quality of his products said that the most effective way he knew to market himself was to dress appropriately. He explains that his outfit attracts customers to him.

Clad in a white shirt, black trousers, a pair of black shoes and a N600 tie, he revealed the new job pays him N5,000 daily which is better than his previous.

"My former job no favour me, that is why I to create something for myself" he said in Nigerian pidgin.
