Nigerian celebrities have kept mum over the rape allegations levelled against their colleagues Brymo, Peruzzi, Uti Nwachukwu and D’banj.

The allegations came to light following cries from Nigerians against a recent trend of rape and murder in the country.

This was after Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level student of Microbiology at the University of Benin was raped and murdered in a brutal manner inside a church.

While Nigerians were still mourning her death, news broke out that a teenager, Barakat Bello, was found dead inside her house after she was raped.

This led to a campaign against rape on social media which saw other rape victims call out those who molested them in the past.

Peruzzi was called out by a lady who stated that the singer raped her inside his living room while his girlfriend was in the bedroom. While the singer denied the allegation, old tweets of his were dug out which suggest that he has a strong stance in favour of rape.

He immediately issued a statement apologizing for the tweets which he says doesn’t represent who he is or was then.

Hours later, a lady accused D’banj of raping her inside a hotel room after they attended a party together. She said the singer got into the room she lodged in at the hotel with a spare key then raped her.

The lady stated that she was forced to break silence after years of keeping the pain to herself when she saw D’banj joining the campaign against rape on social media.

Till now, D’banj is yet to utter a word to admit or deny the allegation made by the lady.

Brymo and Uti Nwachukwu also suffered same fate as Peruzzi and D’banj with allegations against them made public in the campaign against rape in Nigeria.

Sadly, no celebrity has been able to urge any of the accused colleagues of theirs to come forward to apologize for their alleged actions or press charges against their accusers.

This was not the case when one of their one, Busola Dakolo wife of singer Timi Dakolo accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of rape.

When Busola Dakolo made her allegation which she said happened 20 years ago, almost every celebrity on social media raised their voice to support her and condemn Fatoyinbo. This they did without having any evidence except for Busola Dakolo's words.

Now that some ladies have raised their voice in accusation of their colleagues, celebrities have suddenly lost their voice in defense of rape victims.
