'Nigeria, we hail thee’ better national anthem – Brymo hails Tinubu

Brymo Brymo

Contentious Nigerian singer Brymo has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the National Anthem Bill 2024, which restores the previous national anthem, "Nigeria, We Hail Thee."

The singer pointed out on his Instagram page that the context and content of the words in the reintroduced song are superior.

Brymo wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is officially my G.O.A.T. of all-time Nigerian president.

“Read the lyrics of the new national anthem; the first stanza is all you need; it asserts Nigeria for ‘motherland’ and now Africa can be the fatherland and be the symbol of polygamy and we can all focus on one family unit each finally.

“And my favourite part: ‘In brotherhood, we stand.’ We are all now members of the greatest cult on earth. Nigeria is now the only brotherhood every boy and ambitious girl must belong to in this country! I am very happy!”

On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law, bringing back the previous national anthem, "Nigeria, We Hail Thee" to replace "Arise O Compatriots."

Stars including musician Joeboy, comedian Igosave, and actress Kate Henshaw have criticized the federal government for changing the national anthem ahead of addressing the many issues the nation faces.

They contend that the President should have focused his energies on solving more urgent national challenges rather than reviving the nation's ancient national anthem.
