Rap superstar Nicki Minaj is set to deliver remarks at the United Nations this week, joining U.S. envoy to the UN Michael G. Waltz to speak on the rising persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
The high-profile appearance, described as an “unexpected collaboration,” was reportedly arranged by Trump advisor Alex Bruesewitz, who will also speak at the Tuesday event.
The news follows Minaj’s widely discussed tweet in which she expressed shock and concern over the recent spate of killings targeting Christians in Nigeria.
Her comments came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump declared Nigeria a “country of concern,” citing ongoing religious violence and repeated attacks on Christian communities.
Nicki Minaj’s tweet, which quickly trended across multiple platforms, called for global attention on the issue, urging world leaders and humanitarian organizations to do more to protect vulnerable groups in the country.
Her vocal stance earned praise from many Nigerians and human rights advocates who have long complained that international bodies are not doing enough.
According to journalist Eric Cortellessa, Minaj and Ambassador Waltz are expected to speak early this week, marking a rare and powerful crossover between pop culture and global human rights discussions.
