A video showing Nigerians queuing to receive one loaf of bread has caused a stir on social media.

The incident, which took place in Lagos, saw a truck load of bread being distributed, with several security officers directing the large crowd to collect a loaf each.

This is a result of the hunger in the country and the hike in food prices, which has led many to scramble for even a loaf of bread.

The country has been faced with economic hardship due to the removal of fuel subsidies, resulting in increased fuel prices, high food costs, poverty and many other crises.

Nigerians took to social media to express their displeasure at the video which showed several mothers waiting in a long queue to collect a loaf of bread to feed their families.

It is unknown if this is a government initiative or an activity carried out by a philanthropist.
