Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, is back in the spotlight.
This time, the Marlian Records boss is encountering criticism for what are allegedly offensive lyrics in a new song by singer Zinoleesky.
The fact that it falls on the one-year anniversary of his previous artist Mohbad's untimely death only serves to intensify the issue. Fans are agitated after screen grabs of Naira Marley's lyrics went viral on social media.
"Leave that opp boy in a casket" is one of the startling lines from the song that has drawn attention. This has prompted many to wonder if Mohbad is the direct target.
The song further escalates the matter by mentioning Sam Larry, Naira Marley's problematic companion.
Recall that following Mohbad's death, Naira Marley and socialite Sam Larry were invited to the police station for questioning. According to reports, there's a possibility that Naira Marley had a hand in Mohbad's tragic death.
This elicited mixed reactions from social media users as they descended heavily on Naira Marley to the extent of asking for his songs to be banned.
