Nigerian businessman and celebrity barman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has opened up about one of his deepest regrets.
In an emotional Instagram post, he recalled how his mother prayed for years before conceiving.
She first had his elder brother, Onyinyechukwu (meaning “Gift from God”), and later gave birth to him after a complicated pregnancy, naming him Chibuike (“God is my strength”).
She had vowed that one of her children would serve God, and hoped he would join the priesthood.
Despite making efforts to gain admission into the seminary, Cubana Chief Priest never became a Catholic priest. Reflecting on his late mother’s dream, he wrote:
“Next year will make it 10 years since I lost my mom, and everyone who knows my story can testify that my life changed after she went to heaven. Every day I live with the guilt that I disappointed my mama by not becoming a priest. She wanted to be called Mama Father, but instead, I became the ChiefPriest.”
The nightlife promoter explained that although he didn’t follow her wish, he believes he is still “doing God’s work.” To honor her memory, he revealed that he has recorded a Catholic thanksgiving song, expressing gratitude for blessings such as family, fame, wealth, friends, and music.
“I had to do this thanksgiving Catholic Christian song to honor my late mom and also thank God for the numerous blessings that have come my way,” he added.
The upcoming track, produced by Masterkraft and featuring rapper Zoro, will be released once his Instagram post reaches 1,000 comments.
