'Most African singer to be known worlwide after his death' - Reactions as Mohbad appears on Times Square's billboard

The late Nigerian singer and rapper, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba known by his stage name Mohbad, has caused a stir on social media after appearing in a Times Square billboard in New York City.

This occurs a week after his untimely death on Tuesday, September 12, at the age of 27.

After followers demanded a thorough inquiry and justice for his tragic death on social media, Mohbad's death has received international attention.

The Mohbad’s billboard read: “Will be remembered forever Mohbad. Legend are never forgotten. R.I.P.”

With his posthumous appearance, Mohbad has now joined the roster of Nigerian celebrities who have appeared on a billboard in Times Square, which also includes Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Davido.

In response to the late singer's appearance on the billboard, many people have stated that Mohbad is the only African musician to receive widespread acclaim only after his passing.

They said it was regrettable that the world was unaware of the singer while he was living but that they are now fighting for and honouring him now that he has passed away.
