Davido at Mohbad's candlelight procession

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has ignited discussions on social media after being seen in videos being cautious for his safety during the candlelight procession for late musician Mohbad.

On Thursday, September 21, Davido marched through the streets of Lagos with his colleagues Falz, Zlatan, as well as other celebrities and youths, to pay their last respects to Mohbad.

At 5 p.m., supporters and celebrities gathered at the Lekki Phase One Gate axis in Lagos, where the candlelight procession began.

The throng began a calm stroll dancing and singing praises of Mohbad while his music played in the background.

However, videos of Davido protecting his life have surfaced and have sparked reactions on social media.

In a video making the rounds, a bottle of water was presented to Davido on stage, but he turned it down.

Another video showed Davido forcibly stopping a fan from donning a cap on his head during the parade.

This has elicited a variety of responses from netizens and brought up a warning that controversial investigative journalist Kemi Okunloyo gave to Davido a few months ago.

Recall that in July 2023, Kemi warned Davido about potential threat to his life and asked him to be cautious in all of his dealings.

Kemi also advised Davido to leave the country for his safety because the impending disasters were dangerous for him.

Additionally, it was alleged that shortly before Mohbad's untimely death, a white handkerchief was rubbed on his face during his final public performance at an event in Lagos by an unidentified individual.

This prompted a response from online users, who noted that Davido's caution was due to Kemi's earlier warning and Mohbad's recent passing.
