Mohbad: 'Give people befitting life when alive than befitting memorial when dead' - Reno Omokri

Political critic and public affairs commentator Reno Omokri has chastised people celebrating Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba better known as Mohbad after his death.

The social pundit responded to the incident on his X account, saying that it was preferable for people to be disliked while they were still living than to gain affection from the public only after they had passed away.

Reno Omokri asserted that despite the fact that Mohbad's suffering and abuses were captured on camera and made public, no one intervened to save him.

Reno slammed celebrities who, despite never honouring Mohbad while he was alive, have since made their profiles into "shrines" and have begun to idolize the singer.

He continued by saying that Mohbad's close friends who were aware of what was happening to him could have stepped in to prevent his untimely death.

Reno further exhorted people to live honourably rather than wait till someone has passed away to pay them a dignified tribute.

He wrote: "It is better to be hated while you are alive than to be loved when you are dead. Fake love kills faster than fake medicine. This young man's sufferings were videoed. His ordeal was in the open amongst the circles he moved in. His friends, who are now releasing videos, ought to have intervened. An intervention when MohBad was alive is better than an allegation now that he is dead. Friends who did not celebrate him on their profiles whilst he was alive have turned their profiles into shrines when he is dead. Let's give people we love a befitting life rather than a befitting memorial."
