'Marriage is not an achievement' - Reno Omokri says

Reno Omokri Reno Omokri

Nigerian author and social media influencer Reno Omokri has stated that marriage is not an achievement as many assume ot to be.

In a tweet shared on his Twitter page, the digital influencer opined that having a spouse or child doesn't complete one's life as a human. He stated that people are complete for who God made the to be and not for who they are with.

Citing that marriage is an institution, Reno urged people to grab marriage when the chance comes and be happy in it, however, if they are not able to get one, they should live their best lives without worrying about it.

He wrote: "Marriage is an institution. It is not an achievement. It does not complete you. It should not even complete you. You are complete because of who God made you, not because of who you are with. So if marriage comes during this brief gift of time that we call life, grab it and be happy. But if it does not arrive, leave it and still be joyful. Life without a husband, wife, and children is still life. Enjoy it!"

The tweet garnered varying opinions as some agreed with Reno citing that marriage is indeed not an achievement and people shouldn't be perturbed when they dont get it.

Others opposed it as they emphasised that marriage aids in procreation, gives people a sense of belonging and some form of prestige hence it is an achievement.
