Reality TV personality and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, better known as Tacha, has shed light on her choice to stage her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Lagos rather than London.

Speaking with influencer Egungun at the Tacha Beauty Festival, the former BBNaija star explained that her decision was a deliberate effort to highlight Nigeria’s creative energy and the potential within its beauty industry.

Tacha revealed that despite receiving sponsorship offers from international brands and the option to host the event in the UK, she chose Nigeria because she wanted her home country to share in the spotlight.

“London won’t give me the vibes I want. We had plans to do it there, but it always makes sense to carry your country along,” she stated.

Her record-breaking attempt, which kicked off on Saturday night in Lagos, saw her complete 115 makeovers within the first 12 hours, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 113 makeovers achieved in 24 hours.

Beyond chasing a title, Tacha said the move was about inspiring young Nigerians to believe in their skills and to celebrate local talent on a global stage.

The event is part of the Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day celebration of beauty, creativity, and resilience in Nigeria’s fast-growing creative sector, running from October 10 to 12.
