Social media influencer Oyemyke has spoken against the outcry against Obi Cubana, Cubana Chief Priest, Zenco and other Igbo rich men who are in support of the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
The cry has been coming from the Igbo Southeast of Nigeria, where people lament that their elite have joined Tinubu's City Boy Movement while abandoning Peter Obi, whom most supported in the 2024 presidential election.
Reacting, Oyemyke reminded the critics that the elite are businessmen, not politicians, and that their support for whatever protects their interests is understandable.
He said in a video, "These men are not Yoruba men but Igbo who left Igbo cities of Anambra, Imo and wherever they are from, come to Lagos, a city that was built by the same Tinubu, invested and became billionaires. Most of these men have their investments in Lagos. They made most of their money from Lagos and took the profit to Igbo towns. It's been so for the last 10 years, and the reason we all know them now is because of the same Lagos. It's all because Tinubu's government gave them an avenue. You detractors want them not to support Tinubu when he needs them. You want them to leave Tinubu to go do what? These are businessmen, not politicians. They have made their own money and want it to continue to go up."
He reminded critics that Nigeria is a country that allows everyone to decide for themselves whom to vote for.
He said, "These men have said they want to support a Yoruba man. Why are you angry? Go and do your own. Tinubu, as far as I'm concerned, is probably the best president we have had in the last 14 years. You don't have to like him, the data is there."
