The Lekki Automobile Dealers Union has backed the ongoing demolition exercise being carried out by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources within the Lekki-Ajah axis.

MyNigeria reported that the demolition exercise affected the car showroom owned by social media influencer, Ola of Lagos.

Photos of Ola of Lagos' demolished showroom generated outrage from many fans who accused the Lagos State Government of injustice.

However, the auto dealers association operating in the area described the government's action as an important step towards improving environmental safety and infrastructure management within the community and state.

"As stakeholders, we were duly notified well in advance and were given the grace period and necessary support to move our vehicles from the affected lots.

"We extend our sincere appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation; Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi and their team for their understanding, communication and coordination throughout this process. Their thoughtful engagement with stakeholders has ensured a smooth and respectful exercise. We recognise that this exercise is a vital and necessary measure aimed at safeguarding lives and properties by ensuring that drainage channels are properly managed to prevent flooding and that the safety risks posed by high-tension electric cables are effectively mitigated.

"As responsible citizens and partners in progress, we remain committed to supporting the efforts of the Lagos State Government towards creating a safer, cleaner and better-organised environment for all. We therefore categorically dissociate ourselves from any malicious and misinformed narratives about the ongoing exercise, which have been released on some social media platform.s

"To our valued customers, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this period. While there may be temporary disruptions in our ability to provide and render services smoothly, please be rest assured that we are working diligently to restore operations as quickly as possible. We remain committed to delivering the quality service and trust that you have always associated with us," the association said.
