Itohan, a Nigerian lady, has written on social media about how she lost more than N180k in a day after purchasing the Davido Coin joke.

The lady originally invested $157.68 (N210,000) in the Davido Coin meme in the hopes of making money off of the effective advertising.

Regretfully, not long after she bought the coin, its value crashed. It was only worth $20.51 (N27,000).

Expressing her sorrow over the unfortunate incident and sharing a screenshot of the balance, she wrote: "How it started and how it's going."

She took to the comment section and clarified why she invested in the cryptocurrency.

She wrote: “I missed out on the first space. Came online, the PR was good and I thought he had created magic, so I bought the top. 30BG suppose fit run 30M nau. I waited until the midnight space, it was then I knew the mistake I made. The moment he spoke on that space, everyone started selling,” the lady said.

Social media users shared their views as some advised her to quit investing or invest the remaining money in it again. Others also consoled her by noting that Davido will give her money very soon so she shouldn't worry.

The Afrobeats musician created a stir in the cryptocurrency space when he unveiled $Davido, a meme coin.

The coin, which went live on May 29, 2024, is now valued at $0.007783 USD and has grown in popularity very fast.

To realize his goal, Davido teamed together with well-known blockchain platforms Phantom and Solana.
