The father of the late Afro-pop star Mohbad, Joseph Aloba has dominated the news cycle on traditional and social media since the demise of the singer.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was initially buried in Ikorodu, Lagos State. He was, however, exhumed for an autopsy following disputes between his family and Wunmi, his widow. Allegations have since emerged against Wunmi, unclaimed royalties, assets, and the paternity of his son Liam
The controversy was exacerbated following the nuance commentary and the circumstances that led to the unfortunate demise of his ward.
Aloba and Wunmi are yet to come to terms with Mohbad's death and have traded accusations against each other in interviews.
The latest of such is Aloba, describing Wunmi as ‘heartless and a liar’ following an interview the latter granted Sahara reporters, accusing him of being the cause of the autopsy test failure.
In an interview with Vanguard, Aloba said, "Since my son's passing, Cynthia has been continuously lying to the world about what happened to him. When will you tell the truth about what happened to Mohbad? Mohbad died in your presence, in your hands. I left him alive with you on Saturday, September 9, 2023, and according to your story, he was dead by Tuesday, September 12. My only mistake was asking you what killed my son. Why are you such a coward? If not, tell the world what you know about what happened to Mohbad.
Aloba, like many others, claims he is fighting for justice and to ensure that his son's culprits are held accountable. Despite months passing since Mohbad's death, a clear cause has yet to be determined.
Aloba has requested a DNA test for his grandson, Liam Light, as he doubts the child's paternity.
He has consistently urged his daughter-in-law to come forward with any information she may be withholding regarding the singer's death.
His appearance on Arise TV is expected to shed light on the progress of Mohbad's investigation, autopsy results, and his current relationship with Omowunmi.
