The Special Assistant on Creative Industries to the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulgafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, popularly known as Cute Abiola, has said no press statement is expected from the government concerning the wave of attacks in Kwara State.
MyNigeria reported that terrorists screaming Allahu Akbar stormed a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Kwara State, a few days ago, killing three worshippers and abducting the pastor alongside some others.
The incident, which was captured via the church's livestream camera, came days after numerous terrorist attacks had been rocking the state.
Reacting, Cute Abiola lamented after seeing the video, which showed an elderly woman limping for safety as the jihadists stormed the church.
He said on X, "What happened in Kwara State is heartbreaking. Seeing that elderly woman running for her life inside a church. A place where she should feel safe, but instead, she is struggling to escape death. That clip alone says everything about how unsafe we have become as a nation.
"These are human beings. Mothers, Fathers, Children, Families… people who woke up with plans but never made it back home. How can worshippers go to the house of God and end up facing bandits?
"To the Federal Government of Nigeria and Kwara State Government: Please, we don’t want another press statement. Don’t tell us you are “on top of the situation.” Don’t release promises that die after one week. We need action. We need results. We need protection.
"Every minute of delay is another life at risk. Today it is Kwara. Tomorrow… nobody knows. We don’t even know who is next. Let us not wait until every worship place becomes a battleground. Security is not a luxury. It is a RIGHT for God’s sake!
"Enough is enough. Nigeria must be better than this. Kwara must be secure."
