The Ekiti State Government has received many praises from Nigerians after it banned a proposed three-day kissing marathon event called “Kiss-a-thon">.

In an unexpected change of events, the Ekiti State government announced the suspension of a planned three-day kissing marathon that was set to start this Friday, July 7.

A group called Sugartee said in a promotional video that they will start the world's longest kissing session on July 7 at the state capital of Ado-Ekiti's famed amusement park.

Many Nigerians have expressed their joy and amusement at the suspension of the proposed event by the state government, highlighting how immoral the planned kiss-a-thon is.

They said that since renowned chef Hilda Baci broke the previous record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, residents of Ekiti state have been attempting to set a Guinness World Record.

Since many have voiced concern that the country may be prohibited from competing due to the speed at which Ekiti residents are attempting to break records, the governor's decision to forbid the proposed kiss-a-thon was wise.
