Kogi Commissioner accused of rape walks free

For descriptive purpose only For descriptive purpose only

Kogi's Commissioner for Water Resources, Abdulmumuni Danga who raped and brutalised Elizabeth Oyeniyi severally for a post she made on social media has walked scot-free

MyNigeria.com gathered that he went scot-free as a result of the influence of the state Governor, Yahaya Bello on his side.

According to Human Rights activist, Segun Awosanya also known as Sega Link, the commissioner was expected to submit a statement and be detained for sexual assault.

Influence stopped the Commissioner from being detained.

Sega Link was unhappy with the state's Governor decision.

"The pressure from the state Governor to have this man walk free despite his crime against humanity is unthinkable. We are calling on the Police Complaint Unit and the office of the IGP to ensure justice is served. He must be charged to court for his abuse based on evidence gathered.

"Violence against women must never become a norm neither should it be reinforced by the political class. Elizabeth has gone through Hell. There have been many threats to her life on the record & the Police investigation have all the evidence.

"They made a call to Elizabeth telling her she can be killed by the whim of she refuses to let it go. They dictated several Facebook posts to her to make in order to be free from their crosshairs. The police have this on the record. That man must not be let off the hook," the End SARS Convener said.

Sega Link sounded a note of warning as he reminded Yahaya Bello that people were watching.

"After writing his statement and invitation of the petitioner for their bit alongside @FIDANigeria and their lawyers by the investigation, the Kogi Commissioner was released on bail pending the need to invite him again as the investigation proceeds. I called the ACP in charge too.

"We ensure we called all the senior officers that gave him an audience to register the fact that we are monitoring the process."

Recall that Ms Oyeniyi said Mr Danga personally flogged her and said he could have killed her were it not for her young son who was with the mom, in a recent interview.

She said the commissioner then stripped her while at least 15 men, who worked for him, watched. They suspected thugs videoed the nude woman as she was being whipped and humiliated.

After the attack, Ms Oyeniyi said Mr Danga drove her to a hotel close to the Kogi State House in Lokoja, the state capital, where he forcefully had sex with her three times overnight.
