Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has registered her disapproval of the present administration's choice to reinstate the old national anthem.
The veteran actress criticized the timing of the move in particular, asking how the nation's suffering would be addressed by going back to the traditional song.
Kate Henshaw bemoaned the "excoriating hardship and lack of good governance on every level" that the nation is currently experiencing.
The actress registered her displeasure with the move on her X handle on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
She wrote: “In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry, going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much-needed drug.”
“The labour of our heroes past… o ti lo [is gone].”
To bring back the previous national anthem, "Nigeria, We Hail Thee," President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the National Song Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, revealed this to Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the joint plenary.
The now-familiar "Arise O Compatriots" will be replaced with a new one upon the bill's final assent.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives swiftly passed the bill.
In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry 😏 going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much needed drug.🚶♀️➡️🚶♀️➡️🚶♀️➡️🚶♀️➡️🚶♀️➡️
