Veteran actress, Kate Henshaw has expressed her displeasure towards the selection of Senator Elisha Abbo as patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Taking her displeasure to her Twitter page, she called upon the Actor's Guild President, Emeka Rollas to rescind his decision to make the Senator patron.

Henshaw refused to be cowered as he called out the Senator on the microblogging platform, passing a vote of no-confidence on his selection.

"Emeka Rollas, I cannot find your handle on Twitter, my name is Kate Henshaw and I do not mince words when I say Abbo Elisha is NOT worthy to be a patron of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. We have women in this guild and we do not want to be slapped!!" she said.

Nigerians were shocked by the selection.

The embattled lawmaker was caught on tape assaulting a woman, Warmate Osimibibra on clip.

The emergence of the video led an outrage amongst Nigerians who called for the lawmaker to be suspended by the Senate, and prosecuted in court.

He, however, issued a very public, teary-eyed apology to his victim and asked her, and Nigerians, for forgiveness days after the video's emergence. He was made to pay a fine of 5 million naira as bail after he publicly confessed to beating the woman who is also a nursing mother.

Abbo threw his weight behind a controversial bill to regulate social media in Nigeria.

The 'Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation 2019’ bill passed second reading during plenary in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

During deliberations on the bill, Abbo said the issue of fake news in the country needs urgent attention.
