Kaduna increase Health workers pay

The Kaduna State Government has improved the salaries of its Health workers.

An Occupational Safety Incentive and additional insurance coverage for death and disability had been approved by the government for all the frontline health workers.

The allowances were announced by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Amina Mohammad, which included enhancement of health workers welfare by adding three categories of compensation which include High-risk staff, medium and low-risk staff.

High-risk staff are expected to receive N15,000 daily; Medium risk staff, N10,000 daily; and low-risk staff would receive N5,000 per day.

An additional insurance package comprising of death benefit of N5m, disability benefit of N2.5m and COVID-19 infection cover of N100,000 daily for 10 days has been included in the package. This package has been enhanced from the initial set of benefits kindly donated by Leadway Assurance.

Also, the state government is paying additional premiums to increase the sum assured for death and disability to the higher amounts stated above.

In addition, a monthly incentive of 10% of net pay for other health workers in public hospitals and primary health centres has been approved.

The Occupational Safety Initiative and improved insurance packages become effective from April 2020.

State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai took the opportunity to appreciate medical professionals from the state Ministry of Health, Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and ABU Teaching Hospital who treated him when he was infected by COVID-19.
