Nigerian Fuji legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as KWAM 1, has spoken out following accusations of misconduct during a boarding process for a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on August 5, 2025.
Legit.ng reported that the singer was almost run over by an aircraft during a fiasco with officials of the airline at the airport.
In a statement, the veteran performer insisted that, contrary to media reports, he was the victim, not the aggressor, in the now-public incident.
At the heart of the drama was what airport security believed to be a suspicious substance.
According to Kwam 1’s camp, it turned out to be nothing more than plain drinking water handed to him while at the lounge.
His media aide, Kunle Rasheed, said in a statement: “Despite his respectful effort to clarify this, the situation was unnecessarily escalated,”
This version of events directly contradicts the narrative that the Fuji icon behaved in an unruly manner or posed a security risk.
A private jet, an apology
Kwam 1 disclosed that top ValueJet executives, including the Chairman and Managing Director, reached out personally to offer their apologies.
As a peace gesture, he claimed the airline went as far as arranging a private jet to fly him to Lagos, a move he respectfully declined.
He stated: “If I had done anything wrong, why would the Chairman of the airline and the Head of Airport Security be calling me to apologise?”
Kwam 1 further alleged that the pilot involved in the incident has now been suspended, hinting that she might be trying to shift the blame.
He said: “Given the circumstances, it is no surprise if she attempts to deflect blame — surely, she must lie to cover herself up"
