Former Big Brother Naija housemate Doyin has stated that it is painful but reasonable to ask one's partner for a DNA test.

There have been debates online over DNA testing following growing cases of paternity fraud.

Doyin clarified in an Instagram post that men have the right to ask for a DNA test, adding that they should be presented with a choice to father a child that is theirs or not.

The reality TV star continued, saying that people shouldn't get upset when asked to take a DNA test.

She wrote: “It’s not a bad thing for your partner to request for DNA test. If he wants to take care of a child that isn’t his, let it be his decision to do that intentionally not because he thinks he’s the father. The rate of paternity fraud is too high for you to think emotionally if your partner asks for a DNA test. It’s a painful request but it’s understandable.”

Paternity fraud has been on the rise in recent times as social media users lament deceit by their partners.

Some men have opened up on the trauma, and sacrifices they had to make to ensure their "children" were secure in their care.

A man recently narrated how he married his wife who already had a 2-year-old daughter.

Later on, they had a boy, and he has been raising the two kids for the past six years after marriage. He recently learned that the boy he believed to be his son, isn't his biological son.

This has since elicited reactions from social media users as many believe that a law on paternity fraud should be passed in Nigeria.
