'It's depressing seing Nigerians divided by tribe and religion' -Falz speaks out amid 'Christian Genocide'

Amid the ongoing uproar over the alleged “Christian genocide” and the growing religious tension across Nigeria, rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has voiced deep concern over the country’s persistent division along tribal and religious lines.

The multi-award-winning artiste expressed his frustration on social media while reacting to a post by fellow entertainer Nasboi, who urged Nigerians to unite beyond ethnic and religious differences and hold their leaders accountable instead of turning against one another.

Nasboi had written: “We’ve really kept quiet in this country. Reminiscing stories like ‘snake swallowing money.’ These politicians really take us for granted. Busy stealing money they cannot finish on earth. It’s time to put our tribes and religions aside. Put this country first.”

In agreement, Falz lamented that it has become mentally exhausting to witness how politicians continue to exploit Nigeria’s diversity for personal gain. He stated:

“I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves.”

His comments come at a time when online debates between Christian and Muslim youths have intensified, following reports of U.S. President Donald Trump threatening military intervention over alleged attacks on Christians by Islamic extremists in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians have since taken to social media to call for unity and peace, stressing that hate-driven rhetoric only deepens the country’s instability.
