Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Ruth Kadiri, has called on the authorities to empower Nigerians to protect themselves amid rising insecurity in the country.
Kadiri made the statement in a post shared on her social media page on Tuesday, where she expressed frustration over repeated attacks, killings and the increasing fear among citizens in different parts of Nigeria.
Reacting to the situation, the actress said, “Give us power to defend ourselves.”
She stressed that many Nigerians feel helpless as insecurity continues to threaten lives and property.
Kadiri further stated that citizens deserve stronger protection and practical solutions, noting that safety should not be treated as a privilege but a basic right.
Her comment has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing concerns over insecurity and calling for urgent action from the government and security agencies.
A user, @EmekaTalks, wrote, “Ruth Kadiri only said what millions of Nigerians are afraid to say. People are tired of living in fear.”
Another user, @DebbieWrites, said, “The government should secure lives first. Citizens should not have to beg for safety.”
