Lawyer Stan Alieke has advised Nigerians to always honour the invitation of the police. His comment comes following the announcement that singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is wanted.

Portable has received multiple invitations from the Ogun State police but refused to honour them until they declared him wanted and created a flyer with his photo on it. The singer is currently pleading with the State police for mercy.

Reacting to the incident, Stan Alieke noted that it is more honourable to comply with the invitation from the police than to be forcefully arrested.

According to him, if the police arrest the person upon granting the invitation, his lawyer can bail him out.

His words, “On Portable: I’d always advise that whenever the police or any law enforcement agency invites you, honour the invite and go. It’s more honourable that way, the worst that could happen is that they detain you and your lawyer bail you out.

If the police invite you and you don’t go, you have given them a reason to come and arrest you and even exert any amount of reasonable force in arresting you if you try to resist the arrest or publicly declare you wanted. They can also freeze your bank accounts until you show up. You can never fight, runaway or hide from the government.”
