Controversial social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked fresh controversy following the announcement that one million copies of the Holy Bible would be distributed across Nigeria in honour of Seyi Tinubu's 40th birthday.
In a video shared via Instagram, VeryDarkMan began by briefly wishing the president’s son a happy birthday before questioning the motive behind the Bible distribution initiative.
He wondered why Seyi Tinubu, who he noted is a Muslim, would be associated with a Christian-themed project, suggesting that the move could be a subtle form of manipulation.
“If it’s not a mind game, why are you sharing Bibles? Religion is the easiest way to control Nigerians,” he said.
VDM argued that religion has long been used by political and religious elites to keep Nigerians distracted from demanding accountability.
He suggested that instead of distributing Bibles, Seyi should sponsor initiatives that directly empower Nigerian youth—such as skill development, education, or job creation.
Continuing, he noted that many politicians in Nigeria only use religion as a tool to divide or pacify the masses, claiming that most of them do not genuinely practice either Christianity or Islam.
He compared the situation to China, where citizens are discouraged from practicing religion publicly and are instead required to focus on national values and productivity.
“Religion is even more dangerous than tribalism,” VDM asserted, adding that Nigerians often pray for basic amenities, like electricity, good roads, and health care, that their leaders are supposed to provide.
His comment has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians agreeing with his criticism of religion’s influence in politics, while others felt he was being disrespectful.

@Peace_Makarr___"His reason for sharing the Bible and spreading it is simple.
Make their minds docile and fertile for control. Nothing else.
The funny thing is that these people think that we are still in the 90s.
Dumb move"
@ibadin_david___"VDM is my brother from the other dimension ❤️,, sharing Bibles is madness, it's better to share condoms"
@nsidaniel___"I see nothing wrong with Seyi Tinubu sharing the Bible. We shouldn’t let the current challenges in the country cloud our thoughts or conscience. Not everything should be viewed through the lens of politics."
@alozieazubuike9____"He has started campaigning for himself and his father, Christians should be very careful, these people have something in mind,a Muslim sharing the bible to Christians, let any Christian share the Quran and see what will happen, we need to wake up ooooooo"
@janydike___"Sharing of Bible is a decoy to get Christian votes for his father comes 2027. As long as he has involved the Word of God, God will himself will decide 2027"
