Idea for Black is King started in my backyard - Beyonce

US singer, Beyonce has said that her new project Black is King is an idea which started in her backyard.

The singer revealed that the project was done with effort from different creative personalities from all over the world.

Black is King is the visual for the Lion King: The Gift album which is the soundtrack for the Disney movie Lion King.

Lion King: The Gift features African acts like Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Shatta Wale, Bankuli etc.

Speaking in an interview aired on ABC's Good Morning America TV show, Beyonce said: "It's been a year in a making. I worked with a diverse group of very gifted directors, actors, creatives from all over the world to reimagine the story of the Lion King".

She continued: "But it all started in my backyard, so from my house, to Johannesburg, to Ghana, to London, to Belgium, to the Grand Canyon, it was truly a journey".
