Actress and movie producer, Motunrayo Oluwakemi, better known as Motunrayotohset, has said that she vowed to improve on her acting skills after she was told to vacate a seat supposedly reserved for a star actors and actresses.

The actress, who was once romantically linked to fuji star, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma, also told Saturday Beats that she had received a lot of backlash over some of the movies she had acted. She said, “One of my most unforgettable experiences was at a movie location. While waiting for the director to explain my role to me, a guy walked up to me and told me to stand up, saying the seat was only meant for a star actor. I was ashamed on that day. That was when I decided to give my all to acting.

“Being an actor comes with a lot of criticism. This is a free world where people have the freedom to express themselves. I have received a lot of backlash concerning some of my roles but I am not moved. Acting is not just something you do to make people love you; it’s also a profession.

“I ignore the rumours and continue doing what I do best. People think that acting makes one promiscuous because of what they see actors do in movies but I don’t think being an actress makes one vulnerable to mischief.”

The actress also noted some of the challenges movie producers face in the industry. She added, “Many actors face financial problems– from the production costs to marketers who owes one. Discrimination is another thing. In some cases, some movie directors’ give lots of credit to already made stars instead of inspiring up-and-coming acts. They give their favourite actors important roles while they assign whatever roles they like to up-and-coming actors.”
