Nigerian singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, has reflected on his time in the music industry.
During an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, May D revealed that he used to be on the same level as his fellow artistes Wizkid and Davido.
He shared how, in the past, he, Wizkid and Davido were the top three artistes in the country.
May D pointed out that he was even more popular than the two at one point.
He said, "Then it was Wizkid, David, and I. I was even like bigger. Wetin be ‘Holla at Your Boy’ compared to ‘Soundtrack?’”
May D had previously mentioned that Wizkid, who has won a Grammy, might not have reached his level if he had not parted ways with his former record label, Square Records.
In 2011, May D gained fame after signing with Square Records. However, in August 2012, it was announced that he had left the label.
The singer believes that his dispute with P-Square had a significant impact on his career.
