Nigerian actor, Adewale Akinnuoye has stated in a recent interview that he was 'farmed' at 6 years old to a white couple in the South-East of England.

'Farming' in this context means as a Nigerian immigrant, he was was given to a white working class family so he could work for them and be able to study.

According to him, it was a common practice among Nigerian immigrants in Britain at the time. The goal was to graduate, earn little money and return to Nigeria.
