Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML has opened up about the culture shock he experienced when he first relocated to Lagos in pursuit of his music career, describing his early days in the city as terrifying.

Speaking during a recent livestream, Fireboy revealed that upon arriving in Lagos, he was frightened by many of the things he witnessed, including someone running mad and dead bodies on the street. He also said cultists, as well as the general appearance of Lagosians at the time, added to his unease.

Despite the shock, the singer said he refused to give up on his dream and eventually adapted to the city's lifestyle.

"I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People's eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people," he said.
