Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has clarified a notable milestone in his career, asserting that he was the first African artist to receive a BET award on stage, rather than backstage.
Speaking during the latest episode of the podcast *Listening*, Ice Prince addressed a common misconception that Davido was the first African artist to be honored on the main stage.
โI am the first African artist to go on a BET stage and receive an award solo,โ he stated, emphasizing the importance of the achievement in paving the way for other African artists to be recognized on such a prominent platform.
Before Ice Princeโs groundbreaking win, African artists were typically presented their awards backstage, limiting their visibility during the ceremony. His acknowledgment marked a turning point for African representation at the BET Awards.
The clarification adds to Ice Prince's legacy as one of Nigeriaโs leading voices in the global music industry.
