Grammy Award-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems has disclosed that she got an email from Beyonce’s team before her hit song with Wizkid, ‘Essence,’ was released.

During in an interview with actress Chinasa Anukam on a recent episode of the ‘Is This Seat Taken’ podcast, Tems shared how she felt upon learning that she would be working with American singer, Beyonce.

She mentioned that she was left speechless and hadn’t slept since receiving the news. This revelation made her realise that she was on the right path.

Tems said, “A lot of things were happening at that time. My reaction was very slow. I was shocked. I couldn’t even process it. It was crazy. But it was more of confirmation to me like so, I’m doing something. Cos imagine me, who am i? I used to live in Chevron when all these came. And that time, Essence was not even out. This was before Essence dropped. So, that’s why in my mind I’m like so I’m doing something for real. It just made me feel like okay clearly, I’m not mad for making this type of music.”

Beyonce recently released a song titled ‘Move’ featuring Nigerians singer Tems and Grace Jones on her studio album.
