Nigerian singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed a surprising chapter of her life prior to her official transition to gospel music, admitting that she deliberately "ran away" from Nigeria and attempted to relocate abroad permanently.
Speaking at a recent Eezee Conceptz event, the songstress shared that she tried to secure permanent residency overseas because she had no intentions of returning home. However, her plans did not materialise.
During her time abroad, Chidinma noted that the CEO of Eezee Conceptz remained a consistent source of support, serving as the primary link keeping her connected to Nigeria through regular encouragement. That steady communication ultimately gave her the resolve to return.
Upon her arrival back in Nigeria, she approached the label executive with a clear spiritual objective.
"When I came back, I asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity," Chidinma stated.
Clarifying her shift from secular music, the artiste emphasized that the move was driven by a deep personal desire for a serious relationship with God rather than commercial ambitions within the gospel genre.
