Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has broken her silence following her defeat to Big Brother Naija star Phyna in their highly anticipated celebrity boxing match, attributing her loss to a lack of preparation and training time.

The two entertainers faced off inside the ring on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos to settle their long-standing rivalry, with Phyna emerging victorious after several rounds.

Speaking during an Instagram Live session after the bout, Nkechi Blessing addressed fans seeking answers about her performance, admitting that her training window was severely limited compared to her opponent's.

"I’m not a boxer, I only trained for two days, unlike Phyna who trained for more than two weeks," Nkechi explained.

The actress also offered a lighthearted critique of Phyna’s ring tactics, jokingly claiming the reality TV star spent much of the match evading direct contact.

"She was always running from me in the ring, so I had to ask her, ‘Why are you running like a woman?’" she added.

Despite missing out on the champion belt and the ₦50 million cash prize, Nkechi Blessing appeared in high spirits as she laughed off the defeat with her social media followers.
