Popular Nigerian musician Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, professionally known as Skales, has expressed fear for his safety after accusing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of abusing its power to oppress innocent citizens and high-profile figures.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the singer and rapper insisted he has never engaged in financial fraud, but revealed that recent actions by the agency have left him traumatized and unable to sleep in his own home for days.

Skales alleged that EFCC operatives routinely target people based on superficial indicators of wealth, such as driving luxury vehicles, rather than conducting targeted investigations.

"My problem with the EFCC guys is not even the fact that they're not doing what they were set up for. They're now using the power to oppress a lot of people.

"What these EFCC guys do is they may come to raid maybe one person. Then if they see some kind of flashy luxurious car nearby, they will just come and raid the other person" Skales said.

The music star voiced deep concern for his child's safety after claiming the agency publicly exposed his residential address online, forcing him to stay away from his property.

"I'm not a fraudster, I've never done fraud in my life. But I'm scared for my life.

"Because now they put my address out there. I live there, my child comes there. I wasn't able to sleep there for three days," the singer added.

Skales is among several Nigerian entertainers who have publicly criticized the EFCC's operational methods, particularly night raids on residential estates and public venues in search of alleged cybercriminals (Yahoo Boys).

Public outcry and legal actions regarding night raids and public asset exposure eventually prompted the EFCC leadership to issue directives banning unannounced nocturnal raids by its operatives.
