Popular Nigerian comedian Parrot Mouth has expressed outrage over the involvement of Nigerian citizens in criminal activities abroad, stating that such actions severely tarnish the country's global image.

His reaction follows a dramatic foiled bank robbery in Labone, Accra, Ghana, where Ghanaian police shot dead two suspects and arrested a Nigerian national, Augustine Okechuku Maazi, after a daytime shootout.

Expressing deep frustration over the incident, Parrot Mouth directly challenged perpetrators, asking whether Ghanaians engage in criminal activities in Nigeria.

"Have you ever heard that a Ghanaian in Nigeria has been caught for attempted robbery or doing something illegal in Nigeria?"

He vented his outrage at those involved. Lamenting how the actions of a few individuals overshadow the contributions of law-abiding Nigerian professionals worldwide.

"If you people are useless, know that you are useless. The image of Nigeria does not belong to one person. We have Nigerians that are medical doctors, teachers, lecturers, and diplomats. We have Nigerians that are doing a lot of things. But because of useless ones like these, because of stupid ones like these, the name of Nigeria has been damaged,” he said.

Admitting the personal toll such news takes on Nigerians abroad, he noted how such actions can cause prejudice.

"Am I proud to be a Nigerian? I am not proud. Why? Because of stupid news like this. People will be looking at you with one eye because when things like these happen, they will say 'Nigerians'. So, how do we explain that?” he asked.

Emphasising that financial hardship is never a justification for armed robbery, Parrot Mouth urged honesty over crime, stating that it is better to beg than to steal.

"Everybody that knows me knows that if I don't have money, I'm not shy to beg. It is better to beg for help than to steal. You are not a Ghanaian, and your parents aren’t Ghanaian, but you go to Ghana to commit armed robbery in broad daylight and were exchanging bullets with police,” he said.

“Have you ever heard of a Ghanaian man being involved in armed robbery in Nigeria? Nigerians in Ghana should stop tarnishing the image of Nigerians.
