Popular Nigerian afrobeats artist Seun Kuti has declared that unlike popular perception, he opposes European colonization, not the people.

The musician, who is well-known for taking a firm stand against corruption and imperialism, clarified that his position is not aimed at the people of Europe.

Seun Kuti emphasized the need for a more equitable world in a statement on his Instagram page.

He clarified that his criticism of European colonization should not be mistaken for anti-European sentiment.

He said, “I’m against European colonisation and imperialism but that does not mean that I’m against European people. Many Europeans have been our allies in the fight against greed and unfair systems, to make the world a fairer place for everyone.

Being against colonisation does not mean being against Europeans, many have stood with us in the fight for justice and fairness.”
