I’m not a fan of awards - Wizkid admits

Popular Nigerian musician, Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid, recently shared his thoughts about receiving awards in an interview with former supermodel, Naomi Campbell.

While speaking during the No Filter With Naomi show, Wizkid was asked what he felt about music award shows that tended to be ignorant and not know the right name to give Afrobeat music.

To that, the Made In Lagos star opened up on not being a big fan of awards. According to him, it doesn’t define him or his substance because awards are a company bringing together a show.

Explaining further, Wizkid added that as long as his music touched people or made them feel something the right way, then he considers that his award.

In his words: “I am not a big fan of awards. I’ve been very vocal about that. It definitely doesn’t define who you are, it doesn’t define your substance and it doesn’t define how amazing you are because at the end of the day, awards are a company bringing together a show and that doesn’t define how great you are. As long as my music is touching the people the right way and they’re feeling something the right way, I’m very content. That’s my award.”See the video below:
