Nigerian actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele recently declared herself a feminist during a conversation with Kamo State, a popular skit maker’s wife.
In a video making rounds, Akindele stated that despite being a feminist, she does not support wives who are disrespectful.
She believes that women are not the weaker gender and urged men treat their women with respect and special care.
Akindele highlighted the importance of women’s economic power within the household. While she cautioned against the notion that women belong only in the kitchen, Akindele stated that women are strong and bold.
She stressed the need for women to have the power to protect and support their husbands.
“I’m a feminist but I don’t support a woman disrespecting her husband. Make sure you do what is right.
“I believe that we are not the weaker gender. Men are supposed to treat women specially with respect. Also men should not feel a woman belongs to the kitchen and talked to anyhow.
“We women are strong, and bold. Our economic power is very important, that is why we should make sure we have the power and protect the power so we can support our husbands.”
